Future Bestseller: Danny Trejo's Cookbook
BY TAMARA PALMER
My California Eating Issue 3 cover star and forever angel, actor and restaurateur Danny Trejo, is getting ready to drop a massive cookbook slash collection of life tales that will be a guaranteed bestseller. Don’t believe me? Just watch!
Trejo was a lightweight and welterweight boxing champion in San Quentin (read my account of spending the day in San Quentin and my inside look at the prison’s culinary program if you haven’t before), but Trejo's Tacos: Recipes and Stories from L.A.: A Cookbook is a heavyweight, weighing in at 224 pages.
Unfortunately, the pre-order link doesn’t include a preview of pages, but I am sure hoping that the Machete star is teaching some knife skills in there somewhere. If not, perhaps that would be a good suggestion for the sequel. The opening of the official book description says, “From the legendary actor and L.A. restaurateur comes a cookbook featuring 75 badass recipes, from lowrider donuts and award-winning vegan cauliflower tacos to a sweet and spicy brisket inspired by Danny's mom's barbacoa.”
There’s also a map of his favorite hangouts in Southern California, but all you have to do is go to the Hollywood location of Trejo’s Tacos to find him; he’s there on average once a week.
The cookbook slash fun story time drops April 21 via the publisher Clarkson Potter.
Pre-order your copy of Danny Trejo’s book so you can get it delivered the day it drops. I can’t wait!
