Humphry Slocombe Turns 10
BY TAMARA PALMER
Humphry Slocombe Ice Cream debuted in San Francisco in December 2008, a few months after I started writing about food every day. I blogged about it the first week and I have made it my business to make it a regular beat for the past decade — a true groupie.
Surviving as a food business in San Francisco for 10 years is an absolute feat, and Humphry Slocombe has marked the anniversary with a new milestone - opening the first Southern California location at 1653B Abbot Kinney in Venice. I was there for opening day and am sharing some images of the sassy new shop here.
I’m very proud of co-founders Jake Godby and Sean Vahey for weathering the ups and downs of growing their company. They’ve been very generous friends to me, even collaborating on several memorable DJ/ice cream happy hour events. I look forward to watching them continue to grow in 2019.
They’ll be giving out free scoops at their 10th Birthday party on December 28 at their original shop in at 2790A Harrison Street in San Francisco (and sell nationwide on Amazon) if you want to #lickthat for yourself.
