Kale Not Jail: Four Ways to Support Planting Justice

Planting Justice is an Oakland organization, nursery, food forest and farm that teaches food cultivation and biodynamic farming skills to grow job and community opportunities for people who were formerly incarcerated.

To support their many Bay Area initiatives, you can volunteer, make a donation to their general fund, support the GoFundMe effort to expand the nurseries or, if you’ve got a yard and a dream to grow your own lush produce, you can book a consultation and hire Planting Justice to design and install a garden at your home with their edible landscaping services. The organization has installed hundreds of gardens in Bay Area homes and significant locations such as the Oakland Peace Center.

One thing I found out, honest to God, is that if I come in here full of anger, something simple as weeding, a couple hours of that, I’ll forget about what I was mad at. Check out these amazing video clips and photos of our latest community justice garden installation last Friday at the Oakland Peace Center.
