Birria Taco Hero El Garage Stars in California Eating Issue 4
BY TAMARA PALMER
The new Issue 4 of California Eating features an eight-page feature on El Garage, the Richmond barrio/quesabirria taco sensation that has put hearts in eyes all over the Bay Area for the past year.
Shortly after I was able to try these now highly sought-after tacos in their original garage slash driveway situation in Richmond last summer (which is what is documented in my magazine story), the family-owned business found bigger places to pop-up around the Bay Area, including breweries on both sides of the Bay Bridge. Now that lines have swelled to hours to get them, I have had to rely on my sense memory of that Saturday morning to get me through life for a while, but it’ll soon be easier to get El Garage consistently in the East Bay and in San Francisco.
They’ve been confirmed as a vendor for the 2020 season of Off The Grid Fort Mason Center, which takes place on Friday nights from 5-10 p.m. from March 6 through late October, but they won’t actually be in the mix until the El Garage brick and mortar restaurant in Richmond opens. I will keep you breathlessly posted of all the El Garage developments in the months to come.
