Hella Nuts Nails Walnut Tacos
BY TAMARA PALMER
Operated by mother-daughter duo Mieko and Kamari, the Oakland plant-based restaurant Hella Nuts is getting a patent for ground walnut meat, so I ordered a frozen pound of their star product to test it out by making tacos, their number one suggested use.
Hella Nuts’ one pound package of ground walnut meat
Hella Nuts is currently raising money to build a safe outdoor eating area, but is still currently open for takeout food.
The walnut meat arrives frozen, but you can stick the product — which also contains mushroom, bell pepper and tomato — straight in the skillet without spending a day to defrost it.
Almost ready!

I realized from the first bite that I screwed up by just ordering that one pound, because I thought it was stunning and I want to make this again hella soon.
