Now There's a Veggie Quesabirria Taco
BY TAMARA PALMER
More birria news, for those who can’t get enough of the seemingly unstoppable trend:
OG Tacos, a popular mobile food vendor with pop-ups in Concord and at the Antioch Flea Market, is now coming to San Francisco via Off The Grid Fort Mason Center, which debuts for the 2020 season on March 6. The family-owned OG will be at OTG every other week with their birria and quesabirria tacos made with beef as well as a clever new veggie quesabirria made with hibiscus flower. I only tried a small sample size of the veggie quesabirria last night at the media preview slash dress rehearsal for new vendors, but it was beautiful; I am now convinced that people should use hibiscus instead of jackfruit in veggie tacos.
I’m about to begin my fourth season as a monthly DJ for Off The Grid Fort Mason Center and Presidio Picnic and am working on a series of stories to celebrate Off The Grid’s remarkable 10th anniversary, and I now know what I’ll be eating every chance I get while I’m in the mix between the rotation of OG Tacos and my California Eating Issue 4 cover stars El Garage.
Off The Grid Fort Mason, Fridays 5-10 p.m. beginning March 6, 2 Marina Blvd, San Francisco
